Burglaries in Lauderdale and New Norfolk
Police are investigating two burglaries of businesses that were committed in Lauderdale and New Norfolk overnight (early hours of Thursday 18th May).
The Bangalee Store in Lauderdale was the subject of a burglary that occurred around midnight with the offenders crashing a vehicle into the front of the store causing extensive damage. The offenders then forced entry to the cigarette cabinet and a quantity of cigarettes were stolen.
The second burglary took place at 3:50am this morning at a local chain saw and mower business in New Norfolk. It appears that the offenders pulled the front door away from the business, possibly using a vehicle. A quantity of chainsaws were stolen.
Police responded to both incidents during the night and are following specific lines of inquiry. These inquiries include investigations around some vehicles that evaded police during the night which may be linked to the business burglaries. One of these vehicles was found by police to have been crashed in Berridale around 4:30am.
Police would like to hear from anyone who may have seen an older model white Toyota Camry sedan being driven erratically in the greater Hobart area during the night.
