If you regularly listen to my radio segments or articles, you already know about my absolute love for the Alan Wake games. The dark, twisting narratives and the wider, interconnected universe Remedy Entertainment has built around the Federal Bureau of Control (The RCU) are simply brilliant.
During the gamescom Opening Night Live event, fans were finally treated to the brand-new “Altered State” trailer for CONTROL Resonant. If you thought the first game was a wild ride get ready because things are about to get even weirder.
Set to the thumping beat of “Omen” by The Prodigy, the new footage shows off exactly what we can expect from the next chapter. This time around, players will step into the shoes of Dylan Faden. If you remember Dylan from the original game, you know he has a bit of a complicated history. Now, he is unleashing the full force of his paranatural abilities, and the odds might just be in your favour.
A Reality-Bending Experience
The trailer gives us a fantastic look at the fast-paced, escalating action of the sequel. Dylan is seen tearing through surreal, ever-changing environments and mastering different forms of the “Aberrant” to take down monumental bosses. The combat looks fluid and incredibly stylish, with powerful executions that make throwing office furniture with your mind look cooler than ever.
If you happen to be in Germany for gamescom, for the first time, a playable demo of CONTROL Resonant is available to the public at the Level Infinite booth in Hall 6.
High Fashion Meets the Federal Bureau of Control
Video game merchandise is getting a serious upgrade. Remedy Entertainment has teamed up with ZA/UM Atelier to create a high-end, five-piece clothing collection. Inspired by the strict, institutional wardrobe of the Federal Bureau of Control, these made-to-order garments bring the eerie world of CONTROL Resonant straight into your everyday life. The pieces focus on utility and thoughtful design, and you can pre-order them right now.
Release Dates and Editions: What You Need to Know
So, when can you actually play it? CONTROL Resonant will launch digitally worldwide on September 24, 2026, for Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. If you prefer to hold a physical box in your hands, you will need to wait just a little longer. Physical editions will hit shelves on October 15, 2026 (but yes, they are coming)
Here is a quick look at the editions you can pre-order right now:
- Standard Edition (Digital and Physical): Priced at $59.99 (US), this gets you the base game. Pre-ordering adds a few digital bonuses like the Pickpocket’s Tool Artifact and the Hiss Corruption Outfit for Dylan.
- Digital Deluxe Edition: For $69.99 (US), you get the base game, an original soundtrack, a digital artbook, and extra in-game items. PlayStation 5 players get an extra treat here: 48-hour early access and an exclusive Occult Outfit.
- SteelBook Edition (Physical): Also $69.99 (US), arriving in October. It includes the base game, a sleek SteelBook case, three fine art prints, and a key art poster.
For PC gamers, the title will launch with full support for GeForce NOW, meaning you can stream the action if your computer needs an upgrade. Mac users are not left out either, with a release planned for later in the year. Co-financed by Annapurna Pictures, this sequel clearly has massive support behind it. Whether you are diving in on day one or waiting for that rare physical release, CONTROL Resonant has me excited, I don’t mind admitting, this is MY “GTA6”.
