New Zealand born actor Mick Innes has sadly passed away after a long battle with lung disease.

The 67-year-old moved back to his family home in Christchurch at the beginning of the year as his battle with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease worsened.

His cousin, Geoff Innes confirmed the sad news on Facebook on Sunday, saying Mick had "stepped off the mortal coil yesterday.”

He passed away in his family home in Christchurch surrounded by family. His cousin posted: "I’m going to miss our phone conversations and I know he’s going to be missed by many , love you Mick xx.”

Innes' acting career started in Australia in the 1980s and he is known for his role as Rod on Home and Away, as well as appearing on other Aussie shows like Blue Heelers, All Saints as well as Hounds, Super City, and most recently Golden Boy.

A documentary about his life directed by Roberto Nascimento, titled ‘Butterfly’ was due to be released in 2022 according to IMDB.
