Orchid Spring Show

This year the Tasmanian Orchid Society are celebrating their 78th anniversary. Once again, we will be presenting our Spring Show in the Ballroom of the Hobart Town Hall. Many of our members create their own individual displays, and we have community stands for those with fewer orchids who feel it is a bit daunting to create a display of their own. Orchids will be available for sale on our well-stocked sales table, with handouts on the culture of specific orchids and helpful advice from exhibitors on growing orchids from those attending the stall. Society members will also be on hand to demonstrate how to repot orchids.

Having attended orchid shows in Hobart for well over three decades, my goal was to one day have the time to attend to my somewhat neglected cymbidiums, join the Tasmanian Orchid Society, and access the wealth of information from the seasoned growers able to cultivate a myriad of enchanting orchids. During my time with the Society, I have gained many helpful tips and advice on orchid culture from other members and guest speakers and can usually find someone within the Society to help with problems that I have had along the way. Why not begin your journey into the captivating world of orchid growing?

The Society meets on the third Monday of each month, except for December, when it is the second Monday (due to Christmas). Meetings are held at the Glenorchy Library Meeting Room, commencing at 7:30 p.m. It is suggested you arrive early as it is a handy time to purchase orchid plants at a very reasonable price, chat, ask questions and join in activities. Membership is $25 for single, $35 for double/family.
