“Store for Paws” day for Endor Wildlife Sanctuary

Everyone loves a cute and cuddly critter story, right? Sadly, not all wildlife stories are happy ones. Did you know more than 500K animals are killed on Tasmanian roads every year? That’s nearly 1 every 60 seconds, every day, 365 days a year! Would it surprise you to know that Tasmania has a reputation as a global roadkill hotspot? Endor Wildlife Sanctuary’s rehabilitation and wildlife care services numbers are seeing a significant increase year-on-year. With each individual joey requiring a commitment of care from several weeks to up to 2 years, that’s quite a load. While these statistics are overwhelming, we are well-equipped to continue our impactful work with Tasmanian wildlife in crisis and need.

We’d love your support for Endor Wildlife Sanctuary’s annual fundraising campaign!   Bunnings Mornington (April 17th from 9 am) to help us raise money for wildlife in our care. Funds raised will go towards helping run Endor Wildlife Sanctuary’s rehabilitation and wildlife care services. Specifically, we are raising funds to build a new enclosure for hand-raising Tasmanian pademelons.

It might surprise you to know that wildlife rehabilitators receive zero funding from the government or private organisations. 100% of the costs of handraising orphaned, sick and injured wildlife are absorbed by individual rehabilitators and sanctuaries like ours. Given the year-on-year rise of wildlife needing specialised care, we expect costs to skyrocket over the next 12 months.       

When is Endor Wildlife Sanctuary’s fundraiser?

• Bunnings Mornington have allocated Friday, the 17th of April 2026, as a “Store for Paws” day for Endor Wildlife Sanctuary. EWS volunteers will be hosting a sausage sizzle, raffle fundraiser and donations appeal from 9 am until 4 pm. All funds raised on the day will go towards our sanctuary.
