Call for bus witnesses
Police are still trying to ascertain why a woman struck by a bus at Rose Bay on Hobart's eastern shore this morning was on the road.
The 65-year-old is in a critical condition after the incident on the East Derwent Highway near Yolla Street around 9.30 am.
Members of the public rendered first aid before paramedics took over and the woman was rushed to hospital.
The driver, a 62-year-old northern suburbs man, was questioned, police ruling out speed, alcohol or drugs as factors.
"He was the only occupant on the bus and was not physically injured," said Sergeant Luke Walker.
"The circumstances surrounding the crash are still being investigated, it is unclear as to why the female was on the road at the time."
Crash Investigators would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the bus or the pedestrian at the time of the crash or prior.
Information can be provided to Tasmania Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000.
