Tasmania’s Coronavirus numbers remain steady today, as we ride through the third wave.

Public Health is reporting 1,025 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours.

Active case figures have dropped from 8,854 to 8,450 over the past day, with more than 210,000 Tasmanians recovering from Covid-19.

183 people are in hospital with Coronavirus, 49 people are being treated specifically for Covid-related symptoms.

644 Covid-positive people are using the COVID@Homeplus program.

Two people are being cared for in the ICU.

A man in his late 70s has passed away in the State’s South.

Another man in his 40s has also passed away in the South with Covid-19 as a contributor.

Over the weekend, a man in his 80s and a woman in her late 60s have passed away in the State’s South.

The state’s Coronavirus toll has reached 127 since the pandemic began in 2020.

The Defence Force will continue to provide support to the aged care sector, to help deal with Covid-19 outbreaks.

The military program had been due to end in a fortnight, but has been extended until September.

News Corp reports, an extra 220 military personnel will be made available.

Across the country, there are more than 1000 active outbreaks in residential aged care including 31 of Tasmania’s 72 facilities.

The Royal Hobart Hospital remains at level 3 of its covid response protocol for now and is cutting elective and outpatient services to cope with demand.
