A man has died following a two vehicle crash on the East Derwent Highway at Lindisfarne.
Police and emergency services were called to the scene at about 9:40pm on Thursday May 25th, after reports of a collision between a silver Holden Barina and a white Toyota van.
The driver of the Holden Barina, a 26 year old man from Ross, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The female driver of the Toyota van received non life threatening injuries.
Highway traffic was diverted for a number of hours. Witnesses describing a loud bang, fire and smoke.
Crash investigation services are looking into the incident – anyone with dashcam footage is asked to contact police.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
