Police are investigating a weekend assault in Devonport by Outlaw Motorcycle Gang members and supporters which injured six people.
Early Sunday morning four men exited an interstate registered ute in the drive thru at McDonalds CBD store. They approached two men standing outside the store, kicking one in the ribs and hitting the other in the jaw before fleeing the scene.
The victims were in Rooke Street Mall twenty minutes later with friends when the offenders saw them and assaulted them again as well as those with them.
Four of the six victims were taken to hospital, two knocked unconscious.
The offenders again fled the scene.
Western District Police Commander, Stuart Wilkinson says the offenders were quickly identified as interstate Outlaw Motorcycle Gang members or supporters. Police are now following a specific line of inquiry.
“Anyone involved in Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs, whether that be directly or indirectly, is not welcome in our community,” Commander Wilkinson said.
“Tasmania is a safe place, and we will not stand for the violence and sheer thuggery witnessed during these assaults on the weekend.”
