Royal inundated again

A wave of extra presentations to emergency at the Royal Hobart Hospital is causing staffing dramas again.

Workers are being contacted to see if they can come in for overtime to try and bridge the gap.

The Health and Community Services Union’s Lucas Digney is describing the situation as worse than ever.

“We had reports from members that a community member was ramped with paramedic members of ours for 19 hours.”

While recognising there is extra demand currently, Government Minister Nic Street insists care standards are in tact.

“My understanding is people are being seen, they are being triaged appropriately.”
