A 73 year-old woman has been rescued – after being trapped in her car for two days, following a single vehicle crash at Pelham.

Police believe the woman swerved to avoid wildlife while driving on Saturday afternoon, lost control of the car and collided with a tree.

She wasn’t located until mid-morning on Monday, when a Tasmania Fire Service officer noticed the silver Nissan off Pelham Road, and went to have a look.

Emergency services were called, and the woman was taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital in a stable condition.

Inspector Phillipa Burk said it was a great outcome that the woman was found, especially considering recent weather.

“We remind motorists that the best thing you can do to keep yourself, our furry friends, and other road users safe is to slow down at dusk and dawn.”
