Burst main wreaks havoc
Hundreds of homes and businesses in Launceston's CBD were left without water for much of Friday after a burst main.
TasWater first advised road users to avoid the intersection of Wellington and Paterson Street at around 9am.
At that stage it was hoped the repair would be finished by late morning.
But it quickly became obvious it would go well into the afternoon with continued revised fix times.
Properties on Wellington St, Paterson St, Tamar St, Charles St, St John St, Cameron St, Centre Wy, Barrow St and surrounds have been impacted by the “emergency service interruption”.
The City of Launceston was forced to close the Town Hall Customer Service Centre, Launceston Visitor Information Centre and Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery.
