The media's being warned to stay off the northern Tasmanian property at the centre of a suspected murder investigation.

Police have now released the name of the man whose body was found at a Reedy Marsh home on Tuesday evening.

The family of Michael Hawkes is appealing for privacy as they grieve his passing.

As of 11 am Thursday, Police were yet to charge a 47-year-old man who eluded them in bushland for nearly 24 hours before his arrest yesterday afternoon.

A report is being prepared for the coroner.
