Tasmanians are likely to feel more pain at the bowser, after costs rose by 8 cents a litre for unleaded in the last month.

The usual gaping disparity in prices around the state was on full display as of Friday, with unleaded differing as much as 49 cents a litre.

An independent store at Seven Mile Beach east of Hobart has it going for $1.24, while Caltex Bennett's at Bushy Park was also in the top three value-wise with $1.25.9.

Hobart's best price, along with Burnie and Devonport, is around $1.30.

Launceston retailers have gone as low as $1.28.
