Spring snow ramping up
Tasmania's typically volatile spring weather is living up to its reputation, with snow falling in the Central Highlands and on Hobart's Mt Wellington, although warmer ground temperatures are accelerating the melt.
Snowfall will lower to the 500-metre mark over most areas on Friday.
It comes as the Bureau issues a severe weather warning for Tasmania's south for most of Thursday...SES crews are on standby.
Forecaster Matt Thomas expects it'll ease off late in the evening.
"Westerly winds along that line south of Zeehan to Swansea, we're expecting to see damaging westerly winds averaging 60-70 kilometres an hour, with peak gusts in excess of 100 kilometres an hour," he said.
