Hobart waterfront safety concerns
Safety around Hobart's busy and popular waterfront is a hot topic as the city confronts another young life lost.
27-year-old Jarrod Davies' body was found yesterday by police divers off Elizabeth Street Pier, he had last been seen alive early Sunday morning leaving a popular nightclub.
Another death happened in similar circumstances in November and Hobart Lord Mayor Anna Reynolds is open to ideas about preventative measures that don't go over the top.
"I think myself and the community generally wouldn't want to see anything dramatic happening, but if there's things around lighting or ladders to ensure that people, if they do find themselves in the water, actually are able to get out. These types of things I'd like to know if there are adequate facilities on the Hobart waterfront," she said.
She says it's a Tas Ports issue, but is willing to provide input where necessary.
Police aren't suspecting foul play in a dive instructor's death.
