The talented singer Lizzo clears the air during her first night of the Australian tour, dismissing any claims of a feud between her and Taylor Swift.
On Friday night, Lizzo, delivered an electrifying performance at RAC Arena in Perth. She delighted the crowd by including a captivating rendition of Coldplay’s ‘Yellow,’ a song she admitted to being her favourite.
During the concert, Lizzo, spotted a fan holding up a sign that read “I chose you over Taylor,” an obvious reference to the ongoing speculations. With grace and humour, she addressed the fan, expressing her gratitude for their presence and affirming that there is no competition between her and the talented Taylor Swift.
“I want to start off by saying thank you for coming to my show. I understand that tickets can be expensive for everyone’s shows, so it truly means the world to me that you’re here,” Lizzo acknowledged. “Taylor Swift is amazing too… I heart Tay Tay as well, we’re not here to compete.”

It’s worth noting that Lizzo has faced recent backlash from Swift’s fanbase after an Instagram Live comment was perceived as a dig at Swift. In the video, Lizzo mentioned that the most popular artist today cannot be compared to the impact Beyoncé has had. This comment led many to assume it was directed towards Swift, whose fame and popularity have been soaring recently with her record-breaking album sales and re-releases of her previous works.
Up next, Lizzo is set to perform in Melbourne at Rod Laver Arena for two nights, followed by shows at the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney on July 23rd and 24th. Additionally, she will headline this year’s Splendour in the Grass festival in Byron Bay.
